Starting P1 in August 2016

If your child is

due to start primary school in August 2016
living in the City of Edinburgh Council area

you must register your child for P1 at your catchment school during registration week, 9th - 13th November 2015.

At Sciennes, there are 22 classes and a pupil population of 650. We have three classes per stage in P2-P7 with four classes in P1. Maximimum class size is 25 in P1, 30 in P2 and P3 with 33 in P4-P7. Sciennes does not have a Nursery.

The City of Edinburgh is divided into catchment areas. Every household in Edinburgh has a catchment area associated with it, where you would be given priority admission (with the exception of Gaelic education provision).

Please note that your nearest school may not be your catchment school. Typically each year we have a waiting list for places at Sciennes where catchment children then non catchment children with siblings already at Sciennes will take priority.
